How to screen Indeed applicants without a native Indeed integration
Two prospects asked us the same question in the same week: does Truffle sync with Indeed? It doesn't, not yet. But the workaround takes about five minutes and gets you a better result than a sync would.
AI summary
- Truffle doesn't have a native Indeed sync. What it has is a Position Link, and Indeed lets you set that link as your job's Application URL, so new applicants land straight in Truffle's screening flow instead of Indeed's dashboard.
- For applicants already sitting in your Indeed dashboard, export the list and bring them in with CSV Bulk Invite. It moves names and emails in bulk, not resumes, so candidates re-apply through the link you send, which is also what triggers screening.
- Indeed sometimes gates the Application URL field behind a support request, and some candidates drop off when a job board sends them somewhere new. Plan for both before you flip the switch on a role you're actively filling.
Two prospects asked Truffle the same question in one week this month. One runs a pest control company hiring service technicians. The other was on a demo call for a role in a completely different industry. Both wanted the same thing: an Indeed integration, so applicants from their Indeed postings would show up in Truffle already to be screened.
Truffle doesn’t have that integration. Not a native one, not yet. If you searched for “Indeed integration” and landed here hoping for a one-click connector, that’s the honest answer, and you should have it before you read another paragraph.
But both of those conversations ended the same way: with a working setup, live the same day, that did what they actually needed. Not because we improvised something new. Because the feature they were describing and the outcome they wanted turned out to be two different things, and the outcome was already possible.
Does Truffle integrate with Indeed?
Truffle’s ATS Connection integration works with Greenhouse, Lever, Workable, BambooHR, JazzHR, Breezy HR, and Recruitee. Indeed isn’t on that list, and it’s worth pausing on why. Those seven are applicant tracking systems, tools built to hold and move candidate records between systems. Indeed is a job board. It’s where people find your posting, not a system designed to hand candidate data to a third party the way an ATS does.
That’s not a technicality. It’s the reason “just build the Indeed integration” is a harder ask than it sounds, and it’s why most small screening tools don’t have one either.
So if a sync is what you pictured, that’s not what’s coming. What’s worth asking instead is what the sync was actually going to do for you.
The sync was never the part slowing you down
Here’s the pattern we keep running into: recruiters who already have Indeed wired into a real ATS still describe Indeed applicants the same way, as a flood of volume where most of it isn’t close to qualified. The sync didn’t change that. It just meant the flood arrived in a different inbox.
That tracks, because a sync is a plumbing fix. It moves a record from one place to another faster. It doesn’t read the resume, check whether someone meets your must-haves, or tell you which five of the ninety are worth a callback. An integration that “just works” gets you connected. It doesn’t get you screened.
That’s the actual gap both prospects were describing, once we asked a second question. Neither of them cared whether the data hop from Indeed to Truffle was automatic. They cared that a pile of Indeed applicants was sitting there unread, and they wanted it to stop being their problem at 9pm. That’s a screening problem wearing an integration request as a disguise.
Once you see it that way, the fix stops being “wait for Truffle to build a sync” and starts being “get Truffle in the path Indeed applicants are already walking.”
Point Indeed at Truffle instead of waiting for Indeed to point at you
Every Truffle position gets a Position Link, one URL that opens the resume upload, qualification questions, and (if you’re using it) the one-way interview for that role. It’s built to be dropped anywhere: a careers page, a text message, a job board.
Indeed already has a field for exactly this. On the job posting form, when Indeed asks how you want to receive applications, there’s an Application URL option alongside the default Indeed Apply flow. Set that field to your Position Link, and instead of Indeed collecting the application itself, it hands the candidate straight to Truffle. Indeed’s own employer resources describe this as applying “directly on your website or through an application URL you’ve provided,” which is exactly the slot your Position Link fits into.
You’re not integrating two systems. You’re redirecting a click. The applicant never sees Indeed’s application form. They land on your Truffle screening flow, upload a resume, answer your qualification questions, and (if the role calls for it) record a one-way response, all before you’ve done anything but paste a link.
Set it up for a role you’re about to post
For a new posting, or one you’re about to edit, this is a five-minute change.
- Grab your Position Link. Inside the Truffle position you’ve built, copy the share link. It’s the same link you’d hand out on a careers page or a flyer.
- Open the Indeed job post. In your Indeed employer dashboard, create or edit the listing, and get to the step that asks how candidates should apply.
- Choose Application URL and paste the Position Link. This is where Indeed asks “where should people apply to this job.” Paste the Truffle link.
- Publish, then test it yourself. Click through as if you were a candidate. You should land on your Truffle screening flow, not an Indeed form.
From that point, every new click on that posting funnels straight into Truffle. Resumes get uploaded, qualification questions run, and AI Match scores each candidate against the criteria you set the moment they finish.
What to do with the pile already sitting in Indeed
The redirect only touches applicants who click after you make the change. It doesn’t reach back into the pile that’s already in your Indeed employer dashboard from before today, and that’s usually the bigger problem.
For that backlog, use CSV Bulk Invite. It’s a beta feature, and it’s worth being precise about what it does: it takes a spreadsheet of candidate names and email addresses and sends each one a branded invitation to your Position Link. It doesn’t pull resume files out of Indeed and drop them into Truffle. The candidate still has to click through and complete the application, which is also the step where their resume gets captured and screening starts. If you’re clearing out a few hundred names at once, the same rapid-review approach that works for any high-volume pile applies once the responses start landing.
The workflow looks like this:
- Export your applicant list from Indeed. Your employer dashboard lets you view and download the names and emails of everyone who’s applied to a posting.
- Clean it up into two columns. Name and email address is all CSV Bulk Invite needs.
- Upload it in Truffle. Every row gets an invitation with a deadline and, if you’ve turned them on, automatic reminders at 24 and 72 hours for anyone who starts but doesn’t finish.
- Let AI Match do the sorting as responses come in. You’ll see completions land in your dashboard over the next day or two instead of all at once.
Two separate mechanisms, doing two separate jobs. The Application URL swap handles everyone who hasn’t applied yet. CSV Bulk Invite clears out everyone who already has.
What to check before you flip the switch
Two things are worth knowing before you do this on a role you’re actively filling.
The Application URL field doesn’t show up on every Indeed account by default. Some employer accounts need to request it from Indeed support before the option appears on the posting form. If you don’t see it, that’s the first thing to check, not a sign the setup is broken.
And any redirect costs you a few applicants. Someone who was two taps from applying inside Indeed’s own app, on Indeed’s own page, will sometimes bail when the flow sends them somewhere new, especially on a phone. For a role pulling more applicants than you can read in an evening, that trade is an easy one. For a role with a thin, hard-to-find candidate pool where you want to see almost everyone who’s interested, it’s worth thinking harder before you add the extra step. It’s the same tradeoff behind deciding how much of your screening process a role actually needs.
If Indeed isn’t your only source and you’re weighing whether to lean on it at all for a role like this, the tradeoffs across job boards are worth a look before you commit a whole posting budget to one channel.
What lands in Truffle once the redirect is live
Picture the pest control company again. A service technician posting on Indeed used to mean a spreadsheet, a name, a phone number, and a resume attachment the owner had to open one at a time between service calls, the same bottleneck we see across field-service and home-visit hiring generally. With the Position Link set as the Application URL, that same flow now ends somewhere different.
Applicants land on Truffle, upload their resume, and answer a handful of qualification questions (do they have a valid license, can they work the required shift, do they have the certification the role needs). If the role includes a one-way interview, they record it right there. The moment they finish, AI Match scores them against the criteria the owner set when the position was built, and the resume, the answers, and the match score all sit in one candidate profile instead of three different places.
By the time the owner opens the dashboard that evening, the ninety Indeed applicants aren’t ninety unopened resumes anymore. They’re a ranked list, with the eight or ten worth a callback sitting at the top and the reasoning for each score visible next to their name. That’s the outcome both prospects were actually asking for when they said “Indeed integration.” They just didn’t have a name for it yet.
If Indeed resumes are the flood you’re trying to get ahead of, that’s exactly what Truffle’s resume screening is built to catch, whether the resume walked in from a Position Link, a careers page, or a CSV of names you just uploaded.
Frequently asked questions about Indeed integration and screening
Does Truffle have a native Indeed integration?
Not today. Truffle’s ATS Connection supports Greenhouse, Lever, Workable, BambooHR, JazzHR, Breezy HR, and Recruitee, none of which is Indeed. Indeed is a job board, not an ATS, so a direct sync would work differently than those integrations do. The workaround is redirecting Indeed’s Application URL to your Truffle Position Link.
Can I import resumes from Indeed into Truffle with a CSV?
Not directly. CSV Bulk Invite moves names and email addresses in bulk, not resume files. Everyone on the list gets an invitation to your Position Link, and they re-apply through Truffle, which is also the step that captures their resume and starts screening.
Will I lose applicants if I redirect them off Indeed to apply?
Some, yes. Any extra click costs you a few people, especially on mobile. It’s a fair trade for a role pulling more applicants than you can read by hand. For a role with a thin candidate pool where you want to see nearly everyone, weigh that drop-off against how much screening you actually need.
Does the Application URL option show up on every Indeed job post?
Not always. Indeed’s own employer resources describe candidates applying either through Indeed Apply or through an application URL you provide. Some employer accounts need to request that option from Indeed support before the field appears on the posting form.
